Boston Chapter History

The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) is the leading professional association dedicated to enhancing opportunities for Latinos in the Accounting, Finance and other related professions.

The Boston Chapter of ALPFA was created in 2000 by a group of Latino business leaders who felt there was a need for professional Latino organizations in the areas of Finance and Accounting and related industries in the New England area. These first visionaries provided the leadership and motivation for the chapter's inception.

In the past two years former President Yvonne Garcia carried out this mission and under her leadership, the Boston Chapter experienced unprecedented growth and became the largest chapter in the country.

Paul Franciso is 2008-2009 ALPFA Boston President, and Hector Lopez Camacho serves as the Executive Vice President. Former President Yvonne Garcia now serves as ALPFA National Vicepresident.

ALPFA Boston recently reached a milestone by becoming the largest chapter in the country as its membership topped 1,500. During the course of this two-year term, it became the largest chapter in the country by doubling the number of members, corporate partners, and committee volunteers. Their vision has been to become a critical partner to their sponsors, who seek to retain, develop, and attract highly-skilled Latino talent through professional development, networking, mentoring, and community outreach activities.
For ALPFA Boston members, this success will be measured by the ability to broaden and enhance their career management skills, as well as to provide meaningful networking and mentoring opportunities. ALPFA Boston members find support in the organization through networking events like the annual Leadership Summit and programs like Mentoring, Women of ALPFA, and the recently launched ALPFA LAW for professionals in the legal industry.

ALPFA Boston also has several student chapters at UMass Amherst, Bentley College, Boston University and Northeastern University, among some.

The organization's 37th annual convention scheduled for August 2009 will be held in Boston. This is a first in its kind event in the city of Boston and will attract thousands of attendees.

We encourage interested parties to join and become involved in our board committees and our continued success.
