Coaching & Mentoring
Mission
To provide Professionals (men and women) with successful mentors from ALPFA’s leading local sponsors that can empower, lead and guide them towards professional development, advancement and career growth by improving their leadership skills and their quality of life.
The Mentoring Concept
- Student Summit Sponsors will be able to participate in the CMP track session. The sponsors will provide one or two mentors for the session.
- CMP Session will be held for approximately 1 hour with an additional hour for open networking.
- Goals is to provide mentors with the opportunity to impact multiple mentees while minimizing the mentor’s time commitment.
The Role of the CMP Sponsor
- Nominate two to three executives at their firm (depending on mentee pool) that can commit to attend the Student Summit and participate as a mentor in the track session.
- Work with the CMP team by providing bios for the mentors and contact information so questions from the mentors can be communicated to them.
The Role of the CMP Mentor and ALPFA facilitator
- Each mentor will submit their bios and pictures to the CMP committee.
- Each mentor will have a table with up to 10 mentees.
- Mentors will respond to each of the submitted questions. Mentors attention will be equal to everyone in the table.
- Each facilitator will wrap up the session: Thanking the mentors and mentees for attending the session and asking for last minute questions .
- The ALPFA Group Mentoring concept is based on mentors having a commitment for the duration of the session. If the mentor decides to connect with a mentee after the session, he can do so, but this is not be expected by the mentee.
The Role of the CMP Mentee
- Review the mentor bios and select a mentor.
- Submit minimum of two questions that they would like to ask the mentor during the session.
- At the beginning of the session, each mentee will provide a 2 minutes presentation, which will include: experience, education, major accomplishments.
- If the mentees question was not addressed during the session by the mentor, the mentee should ask his submitted question.
- If at the end of the session there is time, the mentee can ask other questions.
- After the session the mentee should complete the survey.
The Role of the CMP Committee
- Work with the Board in getting bios and sponsor information in the ALPFA website.
- Meet sponsors to provide an overview of the program and answer any questions.
- Each committee member will participate in a group mentoring table and help facilitate the mentoring session by ensuring the all questions asked are being addressed and the session is following smoothly.
- After the session the committee will schedule a meeting with the mentors to debrief on the session and will ask students to complete a survey.
