Coaching & Mentoring Program Overview

How are the coaches and mentors identified?

Generally, mentors are identified by referrals and/or recommendation from our chapter’s advisory board. Corporate partners also recognize the reciprocal benefits of mentoring relationships and encourage their senior executives to participate in our program.

How do you match Mentors & Mentees?

  • Mentor bios will be provided to you upon eligibility so that you become familiarized with potential mentors. We will ask you to rank mentors in order of preference.
  • The CMP committee will review your preferences and will notify you by email with a proposed match.
  • There will be a cocktail reception on November 18th where mentors and mentees will have an opportunity to network and finalize pending items before formalizing the mentoring relationship.

How much time is required to participate in the CMP?

Formal mentoring relationships last for six months. Pairs are free to meet at any time and frequency, with most pairs choosing to meet once a month, at a minimum. At the end of the six month period, the mentor and mentee may continue their relationship. We encourage mentees to consider supporting the CMP as future mentors.

Confidentiality:

Mentors and mentees are expected to maintain confidentiality about their discussions. The most effective mentoring outcomes can only occur if there is mutual trust that conversations will not be repeated.

What are the benefits of Mentoring?

  • Realize the value of networking
  • Access a support system during critical stages in your career development
  • Gain greater knowledge of career success factors
  • Exposure to diverse perspectives and experiences
  • Identify skill gaps and develop a career plan

The Role of the CMP

  • CMP will help you make the most out of the mentoring relationship. We will hold periodic events for mentors and mentees to talk about specific topics relevant to mentoring, like leadership, coaching, etc. these events provide a unique learning and networking experience.
  • CMP will follow up with you mid-program to ensure that the program is running successfully.
  • At the end of the program you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts about the relationship with the CMP.This information will be critical for us in continuously improving the program.
  • If at any time during the mentoring relationship you feel the relationship with your mentor is not working out, or you no longer have the time to make this a priority, the CMP can help you either find another mentor (if one is available) or reserve your spot for future programs.

CMP is an enabler. Thus, there is no compulsory format or protocol you need to follow with your mentor. However, one factor in developing a successful relationship is meeting frequently, with once per month as the minimum.
